FREEDOM

Just a word?, or a feeling?
Just openness?, or healing?

Something he wants, something he needs,
Something he begs for, something that makes him plead;
He wants it, to fight, or he bleeds
He wants it, to dive, or he impedes.

They think he should breed, for this want is growing into greed.
They think he should feed, for this should be his one and only need.

They get him a ménage, he gets more liability
They let him go free, only after restricting his agility.
All he asked for was some free, when not given he planned to flee
Now that he has tots to look out for, he buries his wants, his plans, his melancholy.

He has now forgot his needs, got busy in fulfilling role
Never did he know that he left his desire, but his desire will never leave him lone

He often feels that sudden urge, a suffocation, a resistance,
He often kneels down to purge it away.
He cries at nights, in rains, out of fear,
He wants to get it out, by strain, or by shear.

He comes back hopeless, glum and crestfallen,
He returns back to his job, crumble and crawlin’.
He spends gloomy days and nights,
With only distress and despair in sight.

Unexpectedly, one day, he sees a hope, a ray of light,
He runs to find it, and this time, ready to fight.

Weeks and months pass by, he has been running, but why?
Did he see a hope, or that glitter was a mere mirage?
Was this worth the sabotage?

Oh wait, did he forget his role, his responsibility?
His utter desperation, his craving clouded his longevity?

Crying in the middle of nowhere, his eyes roll out blood,
No, its not the pain, its the injuries, the infection,
And down he falls, with a big thud.

He stares into emptiness as he lay down numb,
Waiting for his doom, to finally come and give him his freedom.
Little did he know, how easy it is to get,
He spent a whole lifetime running after it, only to realize it comes with death.

Little did he ask for, still took him a lot of spree,
But just stop for a minute and reflect, can you ever be actually free?

Guided by feelings, desires, aspirations we walk,
Of great ideas, inventions, revolutions we talk,
I ask you today, what does it take to be free?
What do you need to be free?
What to give to be free?
What is that, you get, after being free?

A few seconds of control on oneself,
That little feeling of dominance,
A few moments of satisfaction,
That little feeling of empowerment.

Is it too hard to get? Is it too bad to think about?

Then why do these people never let us have it?
Why do they keep binding us in new relations, these bonds,
We never get what drives us to persist,
They want us to just quietly; exist.

I refrain from this practice, I deny this belief.
For I am a free man, and I, look for relief.
I will achieve this little happiness of unbounded-ness,
I will strive for those few moments of dominance.

For I am no less than a free bird,
And I fly, and fall, and learn.
